How is your craft space configured?
We have two craft rooms located in the Craft House with a total of about 800 sq ft of crafting space. The configuration is really up to you. The optimum number in the downstairs craft room is 8-9, but can accommodate up to 12 (with smaller tables). The loft craft room, upstairs from the main craft room, is ideally configured for a groups of 4-5.
Do you assign craft rooms?
We don’t assign crafting space. We may suggest a particular craft room based on your group size and any special needs (e.g. avoiding stairs), and the size/special needs of any other groups that weekend. For example, if we have two groups totaling ten guests, we may suggest the smaller group utilize the loft room while the larger group use the main room. Of course, this would only be a suggestion and each guest can utilize whatever space she prefers. Our goal is to keep groups together and provide the best crafting experience possible.
Can I reserve the loft craft room?
Guests booking the Birds of a Feather room, because it is adjacent to the Loft Craft room, will have the right of first refusal, regardless of when the reservation was made. Assignment thereafter will be made based on group size followed by the date the reservation was booked. Groups of two may reserve the Loft Craft if not claimed by a larger group. Please indicate your preference when you book.
Can each lady pay her own way
Yes. The one who books will make a 25% deposit at the time the reservation is made. About 30 days prior to arrival, we provide a link to a secure payment processing site where each person may use her own credit or debit card to pay her portion. Each guest can also mail a check for her portion.
I have a friend that lives nearby but she’s not staying overnight. Can she come and crop or dine with us?
We’d love to be able to do that but our limited space dictates that the facilities be used only by overnight guests.
Do you have frequent guest discounts?
We offer a variety of discounts to our valued return guests.
Can I bring my own Cricut or Sewing Machine or other supplies?
We encourage you to bring your own supplies to suit your needs. We have Cricut Expression, Explore, and Create machines, along with 56 cartridges, and a sewing machine.
Do you have quilting project boards?
We have two, flannel backed, 16 square foot project boards. When you book, please let us know you’d like to use them and we’ll set them out!
Is there a grocery store nearby?
There is an Albertson’s Trader Joe’s, and Walmart less than 3 miles away, and a Whole Foods 5.5 miles away.
Is there a scrapbooking/quilting store in the area?There is a Hobby Lobby, Michaels and Joann Fabrics.

Can we bring our own alcoholic beverages?
Yes, there are also wine glasses available for your use.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is 7 am Thursday and check-out is 2 pm Sunday .
Can I start my retreat a day early?
We offer a Wednesday check in for $59 per person. In the event there is a holiday on a Monday, we may be able to extend your visit there as well. Please ask about any other extensions!
What do you provide?
We provide soap, shampoo, conditioner, linens and towels, as well as all the pots, pans, and dishes you may need. We also provide a supply of Keurig cartridges, a variety of sodas, and chilled/hot filtered water. Additional supplies are found on our website.
Are any meals provided at the retreat?
No food is provided. For your meals, we offer a fully equipped kitchen you can use to prepare meals. Some area restaurants deliver, or you may take a 10 minute walk to Historic Downtown McKinney and dine “on the square”. Also, you may contract with a caterer (ask for recommendations).
What about security?
The facility has a burglar alarm that covers both buildings. Your welcome packet will provide a code to unlock the external doors and turn the alarm on/off. The doors auto-lock 30 seconds after opening. This code is specific to you and is erased at the end of your retreat. We also provide locks for the individual bedrooms. The parking area is completely fenced in and has a sliding gate for additional privacy/security.
What happens if we accidentally pack up a your equipment and it comes home with us?
These things do happen. If we find that something is missing, we will notify you, and you will be responsible for returning it to us. If you are unable to return it, you will be billed for the missing item.
What if I break/damage something?
We expect normal wear and tear and minor incidents. Any damage that is time and/or money intensive to correct will be charged to the guest.
Are we responsible for cleaning?
We ask a few things to help keep the prices we charge you low. Please load and start the dishwasher, strip the beds, bag the garbage, and return any furniture to its original location. Guests who don’t wish to tidy up following their weekend may be charged a cleaning fee. Corporate guests are charged a cleaning deposit.
Is there a land line telephone?
No, there is not a land line phone so be sure to bring along your cell phone.
Is there cable TV?
We offer Directv/HBO, Netflix, and DVD players in both craft rooms and the living room.
What else can we do for fun?
You may enjoy our karaoke machine, a massage at the retreat, a Segway tour of the historic downtown area, or a painting class. Also, Historic Downtown McKinney, with all its treasures, it just a ten minute walk away.
Do you accept special requests?
We want to you to have a weekend that is uniquely you, and will do our best to accommodate your special requests.
